    • Commence construction of Bush Hill Park - January 2024
    • Commence Detailed Design of one of the main route sections, the School Street and the proposed interventions on Percival Road, Bertram Road and Clive Road - January 2024
    • Commence Statutory Consultation for the School Street and the proposed interventions on Percival Road, Bertram Road and Clive Road - March 2024 (please note that this activity will be subject to funding)
    • Complete Detailed Design of above sections - March 2024

Further progression of the scheme beyond the current financial year will be subject to funding.

What are the sections of the route?

The route has been broken up into sections as follows:

    • Southbury Road
    • Eaton Road, Seaford Road, Fotheringham Road, Cross Road
    • Bush Hill Park
    • Lincoln Road
    • Percival Road, Bertram Road, Clive Road
    • The A10 junction is being designed and delivered by TfL, who will undertake their own consultation in due course

What interventions are being proposed as part of the Southbury Road section?

The following interventions are proposed for this section of the route:

    • Segregated cycle lanes on both sides of Southbury Road between Willow Road and Lady Smith Road
    • A new signalised crossing on Southbury Road near Eaton Road
    • The bus stops near Eaton Road will be relocated to facilitate the signalised crossing

You can view the plans for this section in the Document Library.

What interventions are being proposed as part of the Eaton Road, Seaford Road, Fotheringham Road, Cross Road section?

The following interventions are proposed for this section of the route:

    • On carriageway cycle facilities on Eaton Road, Seaford Road, and Fotheringham Road
    • Waiting restrictions on Eaton Road
    • Eaton Road becomes one-way northbound between Southbury Road and Seaford Road, with a left turn only from Eaton Road onto Southbury Road. *This supersedes what was mentioned in the webinar for this section*
    • A southbound bus gate at the northern end of Fotheringham Road; only buses and cycles will be permitted to pass through the bus gate from Southbury Road, however other vehicles will be able to access Fotheringham Road via Cecil Avenue and Cross Road, northbound movements will be unaffected so vehicles will be able to exit Fotheringham Road onto Southbury Road
    • A westbound bus gate on Cross Road, only buses and cycles will be permitted to pass through the bus gate. Further to this, vehicles will not be able to turn right out of Fotheringham Road onto Cross Road, they will have to turn left onto Cross Road, travelling to Southbury Road via Cecil Avenue. Eastbound movements will be unaffected. Vehicles wishing to travel west on Cross Road will need to do so via Fotheringham Road and Seaford Road to complete their journeys.

You can view the plans for this section in the Document Library.

What interventions are being proposed as part of the Bush Hill Park section?

The following interventions are proposed for this section of the route:

    • Upgraded and widened path through the park with separate tracks for people walking and cycling, and shared spaces at entrances
    • Soft landscaping along the path to separate people walking and cycling
    • New lighting
    • Picnic areas with seating and cycle parking
    • Relocated entrance at Cross Road to facilitate a wider entrance to the park

Designs for this section have been developed to avoid impacting existing trees within the park

You can view the plans for this section in the Document Library.

    What is a bus gate?

A bus gate is a point on the road where only buses, cyclists, and other exempt motor vehicles such as emergency services can pass through. They are typically enforced by a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera, meaning that any other motor vehicles travelling through this modal filter would be captured by the camera and issued with a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) for not obeying the traffic restriction. The purpose of a bus gate is to reduce private traffic passing through a certain point, whist ensuring that a bus service is not impacted in the way it would be if the road was physically closed.

    What are continuous footways?

Continuous footways are extensions of pavements across the carriageway of a side street at it's intersection with another road. This provides an uninterrupted route for pedestrians and cyclists to cross these side streets, and helps reduce vehicle speeds upon the approach to junctions where continuous footways are installed.
